MARSHALLTOWN – Six North Tama players were named to the Times-Republican newspaper’s 2024 All-Area Volleyball teams including first team picks Kruiz Ewoldt and Addison ‘Addy’ Hochstetler, and second team pick Cayleigh Heller.

Ewoldt, a junior outside hitter, led the Redhawks this season in kills with 411 – the fourth best in Class 1A – and blocks with 17. The only other T-R All-Area player with more kills than Ewoldt this season was 2024 Player of the Year Grace Farnsworth, a junior at BCLUW, with 414. Ewoldt’s kill efficiency was .232.

Redhawk junior libero Addy Hochstetler also made the T-R’s first team after racking up a whopping 543 digs – third best in Class 1A and the highest of any All-Area player this season.

North Tama had one second team pick, junior setter Cayleigh Heller who led her team in assists with 406 and serve aces with 59. She also had 165 kills.

Honorable mention selections for the Redhawks include seniors Kylie Calderwood and Zoey Rausch, and freshman Lily Sell. Calderwood recorded 54 serve aces, second highest for the team, while Rausch – who spent much of the season on the sidelines due to a concussion – had 292 assists, second highest for the team.

In her first varsity season, Sell put up some impressive stats with 231 kills (second highest for the team), five assists, 36 digs, and 8 blocks.

North Tama ended the 2024-25 season 25-16 (6-1), second in the Iowa Star South just behind BCLUW, and the Class 1A Region 7 champions.

The Redhawks qualified for the state tournament where they fell to Riverside in the quarterfinal round, 3-2 (25-18, 21-25, 25-23, 16-25, 11-15).
