Redhawk football earns 10 all-district selections; Kolt Knaack named MVP
TRAER – Under second year head coach Andrew Knaack, 10 North Tama football players were named to all-district teams this season including senior Kolt Knaack who was named the Class 1A District 3 MVP.
“I am glad to see these guys get the recognition they earned this year,” Coach Knaack told the newspaper. “We were a good team and it showed with the all-district guys we have. It is always a good team when we have the district offensive MVP and four other first-teamers matched with three (3) second-teamers. It was a successful season!”
The Redhawks ended the 2024-25 season with a 4-5 (4-2) record – a vast improvement over last season’s 2-7 – with district wins over AGWSR, BCLUW, North Butler, and even district champs Wapsie Valley who finished the regualr season with a 6-2 (5-1) record.
Four players in particular helped lead North Tama on the gridiron and were recognized as first team picks including senior Josh Dostal (wide receiver), senior Gavin Rausch (linebacker), junior Kayler Morris (defensive back), and senior Tyrus Luker (defense utility), while quarterback Kolt Knaack was named offensive MVP.
As MVP, Knaack racked up 1,493 passing yards plus 16 touchdown passes; he also rushed for 533 yards and seven touchdowns.
Dostal for his part had a whopping 43 receptions for 633 yards and 10 touchdowns, while Rausch led the team in tackles with 74.5 – 44 solo plus 3.5 tackles-for-loss – and was just one vote away from being named the District 3 defensive MVP.
North Tama’s second team picks this season included seniors Mason Hosek (offensive line), Chaz Hall (defensive line), and Kayvin Morris (defensive back).
Rounding out the Redhawks’ all-district picks were two honorable mention selections – freshman linebacker Maddox Rausch and junior wide receiver Clayton Williams.
