North Tama boys track finishes fourth at the GMG Relays

The North Tama boys track team competed in Hudson, Thursday, April 16. The GMG relays saw eight teams there that evening. NT placed fourth overall as a team with 64 points. Winning the meet was BCLUW with 173 team points.

Individually, junior, Dylan Youel saw two first place finishes in the 110m high hurdles in a time of 15.73 and the 400m hurdles in a time of 1:00.13. Youel also ran the anchor leg of the shuttle hurdle relay for NT which earned the Redhawks a second place finish. The shuttle hurdle relay was run by Jeremy Wrage, James Weida, Jordan Mask and Youel.

In other relays ran that evening the 4×100 and the 4×200 both saw fourth place finishes. The 4×100, ran by Wyatt Hanus, Brendon Boerm, Youel and Aaron Fink finished in a time of 47:36.5 and the 4×200 ran by Boerm, Hanus, Justin Jacobs and Fink finished in a time of 1:42.15. The 4×400, 4×800 and the 1600m or distance medley relay all saw fifth place finishes for the Redhawks. The 4×400 was run by Hanus, Jordan Mask, Taylor Kvidera and Jacobs finished in a time of 4:70.24, the 4×800 ran by Alex Kubik, Kvidera, Lucas Hefty, Sean Dengler finished with a time10:01.71 and the distance medley was run by Tyler Jackson, Mitchell Ackman, Jacob Feldhacker and Kubik in a time of 4:26.68.

David Robinson ran the 3200m to earn a fifth place finish with a time of 11:12.31 and the 1600m earning a sixth place finish in a time of 5:08.11.

Boerm competed in the 200m and earned a fourth place finish in a time of 23:91. Fink got a sixth place finish in the open 100m in a time of 12:18.5.

In the field events, Hanus had the jump to beat for the Redhawks, with a jump of 19′ 2.5″ earning him a third place finish and Boerm placed fifth with a jump of 18′ 5.5″. Matt Popelka placed fifth in the discus with a throw of 114′ 2″ and a sixth place finish in the shot put with a throw of 39′ 5″. Alex Herink had a fifth place in the discus with a throw of 39′ 11″

Coach Skopec said, “This meet was on the nicest evening so far this year. The athletes had a good, but not outstanding night. We look to improve on our performances later this week at Hudson. Dylan Youel had 2 first place finishes in the hurdles to lead us this night.”

The boys’ next track meet is Tuesday, April 21 at the Dike-New Hartford Relays in Dike at 5:00.
