Letter to the Editor: Carolyn Adolphs

Former Board of Supervisor, Bill Faircloth, is complaining about a problem that will not exist once the new supervisors get the already approved, livestreaming system up and running, which should be soon. Presently, I can log on to the Tama Livestock Auction and watch my cattle being sold (thank you Tama Livestock Auction), but the previous [Board of Supervisors] would not allow a similar system to be put in place for supervisor meetings in Tama County. That meant a citizen had to attend the meetings or get second hand information from those who did attend the meeting or read about it in the local newspaper. Watching the meetings online seems reasonable and transparent and will save citizens time and money.

As of January, citizens are now allowed to speak on any subject, at the opening and at the end of the meeting, which the previous board only allowed before the meeting and only about items from the very brief agenda. It has been refreshing to hear the many comments, occasional complaints and generally, praise for the work the new board is doing. This board is the most transparent of any I have witnessed since I started attending meetings in 2022. They are facing challenges but I am confident they will find answers and work hard for the citizens.
