Harold was born on January 25, 1934, in Dysart, to Harry and Mildred (Yuska) Blocker. He graduated from Traer High School in 1952. Harold married Mardean Burkhart on August 17, 1957, in La Porte City; she preceded him in death on September 11, 2011. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

As they started their family, Harold’s love for the outdoors and fishing was passed on to their children in their annual trips to Minnesota. In retirement, Harold and Mardean wintered in Arizona and enjoyed their travels to all 50 states. Harold cherished his time with his family, friends and neighbors. His greatest joy were his grandchildren who he was extremely proud of and relished in all of their accomplishments.
He is also preceded in death by his parents; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah (Ernest) Carthan; daughter-in-law, Connie Blocker; brother, Roger Blocker and sister, Shirley Gurns.
