Sandra Dierks

Sandra J. Dierks, 86, passed away on December 7th, 2024, in Bristol, VA. She was born on April 18, 1938, daughter of the late H.E. Deke and Lucille Vogt Deke in Traer, Iowa. She was also preceded in death by a son, Douglas Dierks and sister, Shirley Blasé.

She grew up in Traer, Iowa, where she received her high school education. On June 16, 1957, she married Gary Dierks, of Gladbrook, Iowa. She was married to the love of her life for 67 years. She dedicated her life to being a proud wife, mother and grandmother. She was employed at a local shoe store in Traer and sold Avon products for many years. In her younger days, Sandy was an avid golfer. She enjoyed playing cards with her bridge club. In her spare time, she loved creating crafts and flower arrangements for family and friends.

Sandy found her church home and friends at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She will be missed by everyone that knew her.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Gary Dierks, Bristol, VA, two sons, Dan Dierks (Wendy), of Traer, IA, and Dave Dierks (Natalie), of Bristol, VA; brother Dean Deke, of Cedar Falls, IA; a grandson, Austin Dierks, of Bristol, VA, and granddaughter Taylor Dierks, of Bristol, VA.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff of Oakmont at Gordon Park for their loving care as well as the nurses and staff of Elite Hospice.
