Mary was born October 20, 1944, in Vinton, the daughter of Myron and Violetta (Pippert) Schuchart. She attended school in Dysart, graduating from Dysart High School in 1963. On December 28, 1963, Mary was united in marriage to Richard Holst at Zion Lutheran Church in Dysart. For a short time, she was employed as a school secretary and then started her lifetime career as a farm wife and mother.
Whether time was spent taking day trips to Adventureland or going to the Mississippi to watch the barges, attending the Iowa State Fair, or spending time with family, Richard and Mary were inseparable. Comfort is found knowing they are “traveling together again.”
