Lonnie Hach
Lonnie “Lonny” Dean Hach, 62, of Farmers Branch, TX, formerly of Dysart, IA passed away at home on November 9, 2024, after a sudden illness. Lonny was born on March 3, 1962, to the parents of Donald and Marilyn (Bryan) Hach at Schoitz Hospital in Waterloo, IA. Lonny was baptized and confirmed at the Dysart EUB Church. He attended Dysart Geneseo school and graduated with the class of 1980. Lonny excelled in art, shop and auto mechanic classes. He also was a member of the Bruce Boosters 4-H Club. Lonny continued his education at Hawkeye Tech, with an emphasis in mechanical science.
After graduating from Hawkeye Lonny was employed at Case Tractor Implement in LaPorte City, IA. On November 5, 1985, due to the farm crisis and lack of employment opportunities Lonny, loaded up his tools and possessions in his ole 1966 Cadillac coupe De Ville and moved to Texas with his cousin Bob and friend Mark. He made Texas his home for 39 years. During his career he held several positions as parts manager and mechanical specialist. He later became an independent contractor, specializing in home remodeling.
Lonny had many hobbies, which included antiques, photography, classic cars enthusiast, gardening and cooking. His friends describe him as a talented mechanic, carpenter and craftsman. Lonny was a humble, honest person, friend to all, that could be counted on in tough times, he would drop everything to help a friend. His story telling drew you in and his dry sense of humor added to the suspense of the delivery.
Lonny is preceded in death by his father Donald Hach and his brother Benny Hach. He is survived by his loving mother Marilyn Hach, of Dysart, IA; one brother David (Deborah) Hach, of Morrison, IA; one sister Becky Hach Dvorak, of Keystone, IA; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A Celebration of Life for Lonny will be held Saturday, November 23, 2024, 1:00-4:00pm at the United Methodist Church, 602 Tilford St., Dysart, IA 52224.
