Roger Barge

Roger Lee Barge, the son of Henry and Martha (Fey) Barge, was born on March 09, 1939, at home. He was raised on a farm in rural Traer, and attended school in Traer, graduating with the “Class of 1957.”

Roger was united in marriage to Nancy Lewright on March 15, 1980, at Plymouth Church in Des Moines.

Roger worked for Vokoun Motor Company in Traer after high school and later started as a claims adjuster with Employers Mutual Insurance. He then worked for American Family Insurance from 1969 to 1992, starting as an adjuster and retiring as the Branch Claim Manager.

As disciples of Christ, Roger and Nancy traveled to many countries serving as the Lord directed. They worked with many mission agencies while serving including: Campers on a Mission, Missourians on a Mission, SEND international, International Messengers, YWAM- Youth with a Mission, KAA- Kids Across America and Roger was a board member at Go Serve Global. After the mission, He enjoyed travelling the country served with his wife. He played recreational sports after high school, coached his children’s sports teams, Water Skiing, Snow Skiing and Biking on many different trails. Roger was a very talented in woodworking and archery, and was a part of the Professional Archery Association, he also enjoyed playing many card and board games with his children and grandchildren.

Roger passed away surrounded by his family, on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at the age of 85 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Evelyn Burrell, Marion Geiger, Pete Barge, Betty Boldt and Larry Barge; son-in-law, Michael Kastantin and granddaughter, Jill Fiscus.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Barge; children: Debra Kastantin, of Dallas Center, Donna Fiscus (David), of Conrad, and David Barge (Kelly), of Ankeny; grandchildren: Ashlie Dooley (Reece), of Grimes, Bryan Fiscus (Susie), of Marion, Jessica Thompson (Perry), of Des Moines, Zach Kastantin, of Grand Haven, Michigan, Tyler Kastantin (Markisha), of Norman, Oklahoma and Beth Sibenaller (Greg), of Mason City; great-grandchildren: Addison, Nora, Parker, Michael, Mason, Rosalynn and Alivia and sisters: Norma Sturtz and JoAnn Meyers.

A memorial service was be held on Thursday November 7th, 2024, at Holmes Baptist Church, Holmes IA. Burial was in Graceland Cemetery, Webster City, IA.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family to be given out to different Missions in need.
