Gavin Monroe Rohrbach
It is with great sadness that the family of Gavin Monroe Rohrbach announce his death.
Gavin Monroe Rohrbach, 17, of La Porte City, passed away in a car accident on Tuesday, September 10, 2024.
Gavin was born on March 15, 2007, to proud parents Victor and Leah (Monroe) Rohrbach in Yokosuka, Japan where his father served in the United States Navy. His mother was blessed to stay at home with him while stationed at multiple Navy bases including in Oklahoma and Virginia before settling in La Porte City in 2014.
Gavin was just starting his Senior year at Union High School where he was a multi-sport athlete participating in football, basketball and track. Gavin loved playing sports and was dedicated to each team he was on. He was coachable with a good work ethic and would both play hard on the field/court and be cheering big from the sidelines. He was a smart kid, earning a spot on the honor roll on multiple occasions.
Gavin is remembered as a kind soul. He was sweet, thoughtful, caring, polite, funny and loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was a cherished son, a devoted big brother and a dependable friend everyone would be lucky to have. Gavin was a huge Philadelphia Eagles fan decked out in Eagles gear since the day he was born.
Gavin is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Stephan Rohrbach, paternal great grandparents Ernest and Vivian Rohrbach and Robert and Lorraine Kuhns and maternal great grandparents Darlene Monroe and Peter Swiggum.
Gavin will be dearly missed by his loving parents Leah and Victor and sister Alayna of La Porte City; grandmother Judy Rohrbach of Macungie, PA; grandparents Mark and Mary Monroe of Dysart, great grandmother Jean Swiggum of Cedar Falls, great grandfather Marvin Monroe of Traer, aunts and uncles Donald and Jodie Martin of Emmaus, PA, Michael and Wendy Martin of Vera Cruz, PA, Craig and Sarah Clark of La Porte City, and Micah and Mackenzie Monroe of Cedar Falls; cousins Kyle Martin of Denver, CO, Dylan Martin and Nathan Martin of Emmaus, PA and Molly and Sadie Clark of La Porte City, a large extended family and many friends.
A private family service will take place at the American Lutheran Church in La Porte City on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, with a private burial in the West View Cemetery, followed by a public Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 p.m. at Union High School, 200 Adams St. La Porte City, Iowa, 50651.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the Rohrbach family to be used as a memorial at a later date.
