Helen M. Linhart, 83

Helen Marie Linhart was born on April 16, 1933, on a farm south of Dysart, the daughter of Joseph and Mayme (Hlas) Svoboda. She attended Dysart Consolidated School through the 12th grade. Helen was married to Richard Linhart on August 30, 1955, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dysart. They later divorced. Helen lived northwest of Clutier until 1980, when she moved to Dysart. She worked as a farmwife and in clothing retail in Traer and Vinton. Helen was a member of KD Catholic Workman and Women’s Catholic Foresters. She enjoyed antiques, gardening, baking, decorating for holidays, crafts, and also loved cats. Helen died at the age of 83 on April 16, 2016 (her birthday) at Sunnycrest Nursing Center in Dysart. She was preceded in death by her parents; two granddaughters, Brandy and Destiny Downing; and a brother, Leonard Svoboda. Helen is survived by three daughters, Gloria (Karl) Ketter of Waterloo, Nancy (Roger) Downing of La Porte City, and Diane (Alan) Lohmann of Janesville; a son, Robert (Lisa) Linhart of Littleton, Colorado; fourteen grandchildren; and six great grandchildren with one on the way.
