CLUTIER – Hora-Machacek Legion Auxiliary met on Feb. 4 at the post home in Clutier. Day began at 9 a.m. with the following ladies sewing lap quilts together: Valerie S, Deb K, Michelle B, Brenda H, Ronda E, Pauline S, Collette W, Marilyn S, and Diane C. Five of the ladies brought their sewing machines. They sewed back, middle, and tops together on 11 quilts. Michelle B. had brought nine completed and tied quilts she did at home. Deb K. had brought eight lap quilts she completed at home. Pauline S. will take home 19 quilts and tie them. Collette wil machine embroidery our unit’s name and city on each one. Have 31 quilts ready to deliver to VA clinic in Waterloo and some of those go to Iowa City VA hospital. Julia B, Rosemary V, and Linda D cut grocery bags for crocheting into sleep mats.
Veronica P. joined the ladies for a delicious potluck at noon and enjoyed fellowship. Mary S. joined the ladies for an afternoon meeting for a total of eight ladies. President Veronica called the roll and read January minutes. A correction was made in the minutes and then approved. Treasurer Diane reviewed our finances.
Received a thank you from VAMC in Iowa City for 48 lap quilts. March 15 will be Foreign Food Fair at IVH in Marshalltown. March 16 is our Auxiliary bake sale in conjunction with Legion’s pancake breakfast.
March 4 will be a sewing day beginning at 9 a.m., potluck at noon. Always happy to see anyone come and assist and enjoy fellowship. Regular monthly meeting after lunch. Diane made a motion, 2nd by Linda, to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried.
