Tama County Public Health rolls into 2025
TOLEDO – Tama County Public Health & Home Care is literally on a roll in 2025.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Tama County was awarded American Rescue Plan Act funds to be used specifically for public health. To that end, Tama County Public Health (TCPH) supported a variety of programs and services with the funds including taking steps to purchase an RV for use throughout the county to provide public health services. The process of building the RV began in FY 2023 utilizing those funds.
Last Friday, Jan. 24, the completed RV was delivered to TCPH’s doorstep all the way from Greensboro, North Carolina by Jayson Daniel with Matthews Specialty Vehicles.
The RV will enable TCPH to visit all Tama County communities in order to provide public health services. Initial plans for the RV include vaccine clinics, foot clinics, blood pressure clinics, and having a presence at community events.
In the future, TCPH hopes to expand the RV’s offerings via the clinic room and counseling areas which are both wheelchair accessible. The RV will also be an asset in preparedness planning.
“We are happy with how the RV build turned out and are proud to expand our reach to the more rural areas of Tama County,” Lori Johnson, Assistant Director/CFO of Tama County Public Health & Home Care said in an email. “Please note, the individuals featured on the exterior (of the RV) all signed consent for their photos to be used. Our hope was to show that our agency serves all ages and walks of life in Tama County using real Tama County residents and not stock images.”
For those interested in checking out the RV, TCPH is planning an open house for warmer weather, but in the meantime, follow ‘Tama County Public Health & Home Care’ on Facebook for updates.
“Look for us this summer,” Johnson continued, “you can’t miss us!”
