Adjusting the Board of Adjustment
TOLEDO – Two new members were appointed to the Tama County Board of Adjustment during the Dec. 16 supervisors meeting.
As a fog lay lifeless in the sky like a raccoon on the side of the highway, the usual group of local government spectators cut through the wet, dreary morning to attend the government gathering held at the Administration Building in Toledo. The meeting started, like it always does, with County Engineer Ben Daleske giving his report.
Trucks were out on paved roads on Saturday and Sunday, Daleske said, and the bridge crew finished up work on their current bridge project.
James Lacina was hired for the open motor grader position.
The bridge inspector came through and found the bridge on 340th Street between X Ave and Hwy 21 needing repair so the bridge will be closed until further notice.
The supervisors approved Tama County Economic Development director Katherine Ollendieck’s request to relinquish local government status from the Department of Cultural Affairs. The county is no longer qualified for the designation, Ollendieck explained.
After interviews were conducted last week with three candidates, Berleen Wobeter and John Wagner were approved to fill the two open seats on the Board of Adjustment.
The Central Iowa Juvenile Detention Center Agreement was extended.
Claims totaling $371,040.39 were approved.
