Hora-Machacek Auxiliary holds sewing day
CLUTIER – Eleven ladies attended the Hora-Machacek Legion Auxiliary sewing day on Wednesday, November 6. They were: Collette W, Diane C, Pauline S, Linda D, Carolyn B, Julia B, Deb K, Rosemary V, Cyndy B, Valerie S, and Veronica P. They sewed lap quilt squares together and also put backs on completed quilt tops. Several ladies cut and balled plastic grocery bags for crocheting into sleep mats. Enjoyed a delicious potluck lunch and continued fellowship.
Marilyn S. and Mary S. joined us for a monthly meeting at 1 p.m. President Veronica conducted the meeting. Mary said prayer and the vacant chair. Veronica called the roll and read October minutes which Diane approved and Pauline seconded. Motion carried.
Treasurer Diane reviewed our finances. Motion was made by Julia B. to pay Legion half of the newspaper ad, seconded by Collette. Motion carried. Julia B. made a motion to donate a monetary amount each to the Clutier Firemen and Clutier 1st Responders. Linda seconded and motion carried.
Bake sale workers were: Collette W, Bev C, Mary S, Diane C, and Linda D. Veronica thanks everyone who donated to our sale and especially those who came and purchased the goodies. The Tama County joint meeting was on October 22 in Gladbrook. There were two Legionnaires and nine Auxiliary members in attendance. Discussed upcoming Government Day in April 2025. Next county meeting will be in Reinbeck on Tuesday, March 25th at 1:30 p.m. The June 2025 meeting will be an evening meeting with flag disposal in Tama.
Signed a sympathy card and mailed to Judy Barnard. Her daughter had passed away. Signed and mailed a birthday card to Jolene Denbow. She celebrated her 90th birthday. Veronica donated an 18 quart electric roaster to the hall as one of the existing ones no longer works. Linda D. made a motion seconded by Collette W. for Diane to purchase a new microwave and dish drainer. Motion carried.
On Tuesday, December 3, we will have our monthly meeting at 1:30 p.m. Our next sewing day is Tuesday, January 7. Mary said closing prayer. Meeting adjourned.
