TOLEDO – It was a rainy morning last Monday, May 20, and the usual group braved the puddles to gather for the Tama County Board of Supervisors weekly meeting.

The meeting started like usual with Tama County Engineer Ben Daleske giving his report: Jerico is being delayed from starting dust control due to the rain, the DOT will take control of the dust control for all detours of the US 63 closure. Iowa Bridge and Culvert put down some concrete on their current project and hope to be done with it by June. Concrete has also been poured for the new fuel pad at the new shop. A resolution to reclassify P Avenue was approved.

The final reading of the resolution to make EMS an essential service in Tama County was approved. Multiple EMS workers were on hand to answer questions from the public. The next step is to set up an EMS advisory board. In order for the County to levy a tax to fund EMS as an essential service, the resolution must be put to the voters during the November General Election. In order to pass it must receive a supermajority (60%).

This week’s meeting was changed to Tuesday the 28th due to the Memorial Day holiday.

Liquor licenses for Rusty Ridge Campground and Windy Goat Acres were approved.

A tax reassignment for John Jacoby was approved.

Claims totaling $70,761.19 were approved.
