LA PORTE CITY – Clutier resident Linda Dvorak (pictured, right) kept a full Friday night schedule this summer bringing her always popular kolaches to La Porte City’s Brick Street Market. The annual farmers market was held along downtown’s brick Main Street on the west end. Dvorak garnered help each week from several family members including great-granddaughter Gabbi Lynn, pictured, who stopped by her great-grandma’s table on Friday, Aug. 11. By making eight dozen kolaches per market for the eight weeks the event ran this season – selling out most weeks – it’s safe to say Dvorak brought a whole lot of (chutný!) Czech heritage to the wider community this summer.
