What motivated you to run for mayor? I was motivated by my strong desire to make a positive impact in our community and for our community. I was attracted to Traer 6 years ago when we purchased the home we live in because of a number of great things. Sadly some of those are going away bit by bit and as a community we need a mayor who will work to make sure they return and stay. I have many supporters here in the community that also asked for me to step forward and use my passion for the community and my skills and abilities to be a strong yet open minded leader.

What do you see as the primary roles and responsibilities for the position you are running for? To me the main primary role of a mayor is to work effortlessly to make the community better. I feel that the person elected needs to be someone who will take the time to work with other local leaders as well as state and national leaders to network Traer forward. The mayor should be making strides in making sure our community is growing in population and not shrinking like it has been. The mayor should work with all the amazing groups in our community to make it a better place for families and individuals to want to live. This would include working with the school board and PTO, the chamber of commerce, the development board, and all other committees and groups in our community. Being someone who can listen and makes themselves approachable is also a huge responsibility of a mayor. Everyone who

calls this community home should feel like they can approach our mayor and be listened to on concerns and taken seriously.

What challenges do you see small, rural communities like yours facing today as compared to larger cities and suburbs? What do you plan to do to help meet those challenges as a city council member/mayor? All along while running for mayor I have stressed the importance of developing our community by growing our community. This is something our community has not pushed for in the 6 years I have been blessed to call Traer home. We have a lot of lots sitting in the new subdivision on the west end of town that need to be filled and should have been filled. If this means working with it as a TIF district and doing short term tax abatements so be it. We need more properties in our community that will in turn result in a greater tax revenue base and allow us to focus on all the other things we need as a rural community. We need to be sure our volunteer based services such as the fire department and EMS department have everything they need to continue to provide us with the amazing services they do. Our school needs to be a main focal point to make sure it stays strong and independent from area districts as well. We need to focus on our infrastructure and make much needed repairs to streets and sidewalks. We need area home buyers and renters to know that Traer is a great community to call home and it is well worth the 30 minute drive into the Cedar Valley.

Why should people vote for you on November 2, 2021? People should vote for me on 11.2 because I will work hard to represent each and everyone of them everyday as I work to make the improvements I have outlined for our community. I will be a mayor that will take the time and make the time to listen to everyone in our community. I will be involved in fundraising for our volunteer services and school here in town. I will make sure other area mayors, state representatives, and national leaders know that Traer is a great community by meeting with them and networking with them to get the job done for us. A vote for me on 11.2 is a vote to move our community forward and allow me to get to work for everyone. I take this job extremely seriously and I’d be honored to have your support and your vote on 11.2 so I can get to work for you on 11.3 as mayor elect!
